>> all right. we told you guys sara is outside. she's on a crazy contraption. it is called a tread wall. it's like a climber, but you go vertically, and you can't stop. >> well, this is really a cool workout because it kind of feels like i'm playing a little bit, although it's -- you can even invert, it which makes you -- you have to lift the weight of your body, which this one i can do for about five seconds because mama is still in january, and she hasn't lost her weight yet. . this really hurts my heiny. >> they do? is. >> sara has got it going on, you guys. we have a lot of fun stuff coming up. first of all, we're talking to a great lady. her name is brook burke. she battled thyroid cancer and overcame it. she has got a workout dvd, and she is a busy lady. she's healthy and sexy, and -- >> we're saying good-bye to two old friends.

it's been only a month. i'm already back, working out, kind of crazy to be here, talking fitness and cancer at the same time. >> that can be such a huge part of your recuperation and your recovery completely. >> absolutely. exercise is for the mind, body, soul, for the stress, everything. not being able to work out while i was recovering -- >> that must have been hard, yeah. >> it was really, really tough. it affects our mood, our stress, everything. forget about the body. >> you have -- how many kids? four children? >> four kids. >> part of the reason why i designed this and choreographed this dvd is it's 30 minutes or less. it's intense. i'm going to show you some moves. lots of bootie burning. lots of cardio. >> when it came to your kids and illness, i think a lot of people that go through things wonder what the right approach is and how to talk to kids. how did you end up doing it? >> such a good question. i wanted to wait a while for the kids because i didn't have my surgery for several months. >> sure. >> my 6-year-old actually -- she turns 6 today. >> happy birthday to her. >> i'll be home by tonight.

she actually saw a little snippet of the video that i published myself. she said mommy you're having surgery, you didn't tell me. i don't know that they really could understand the concept of cancer. but she was very supportive. i'm going to go with you and go to all your appointments. my older girls had a harder time. i think with kids it's about being honest, being thorough. doing your research and sharing your facts and sharing it with them. >> sharing with them as little as you need to. >> i kept saying i'm going to be okay. i have a little lump, and i'm going to have it removed, and mommy will be just fine. >> thank goodness you're doing great. >> will you show us your dvd? >> i will. >> do you have to get off these? >> let's get off these. >> since we have to. >> let's go have some fun. >> okay. >> lots of core. the whole dvd is made to incorporate -- >> i don't even want to look at her. >> don't stand next to me. please. >> every move is incorporating a body part. let me show you what one of the moves looks like. abs are in, tummy tight the whole time. you take it up right here and all bootie right here.

thank you so much. >> i need a glass of wine. high-tech gadgets that will motivate you to keep you going healthy right after this. good morning to you. i'm meteorologist chris warren with a live weather update. we're watching a system moving through the south and southern plains here. this is going to bring some heavy rain, the chance for severe weather throughout the day. if you live in this area just heads up and be aware of what's going on throughout the day. also seeing another system moving into the pacific northwest that's going to bring some more cool air to that part of the country. cool air to the north. meanwhile completely different story in the southeast. seeing 60s. this is the beginning. it's going to get even warmer getting closer to the weekend. look at orlando. 83 degrees. so if you're planning a vacation this week in florida, just about perfect. meanwhile not quite perfect here throughout the mississippi valley. can use the rain for that low mississippi river. but we're going to see that rain and some storms moving in thursday. some mountain snow here in the west as that system pushes to

the east. some cold air behind it. still dealing with some very mild air here in the southeast. a little more cloud cover on thursday. then friday we'll we're going to have the showers move a little bit farther to the east. look at these temperatures jumping into the 70s. widespread lower 70s in many spots in the south. different story in the intermountain west. more snow on the way. it's going to be cold and look and feel like winter. you see this front drapes across the region, the middle part of the country on saturday. mild air here in new york. 57 mid 60s in d.c. on saturday. and then on sunday you're going to have a front that's going to go from the ohio valley down into the lower mississippi valley with a chance for some showers, still a warm day in atlanta. and we're going to see a little bit cooler air throughout much of the west. that's what we're going to see through the weekend. it's going to be a very warm still in the southeast. start to see things moderate at least get a little bit closer to what you might expect this time of year. get temperatures back into the 40s for dallas. remember, weekdays on the

[ female announcer ] going to sleep may be easy, but when you wake up in the middle of the night it can be frustrating. it's hard to turn off and go back to sleep. intermezzo is the first and only prescription sleep aid approved for use as needed in the middle of the night
